aftermath of B&S

Happy Belated Birthday Yiyang!
Me: Hey Yiyang, happy birthday.... wishing you not just a year older but a year better...
Him: wise words huh... lol.
Him: okay it's my birthday and i wish that..........EVERYONE GETS A DAY OFF TODAY! oh guess what? my wish came true :D

So i've got a day off from ECON on Monday, and since stat has ended, i had today (tue) off as well.. and i've been... studying! LOL. Credits to Tiffany. She went "it's just another 4 months to exams". I tried to forget what she had said...

Rediscovering the classics: Moulin Rouge and Chicago.....

Explored further into Belle & Sebastian (credits to joshua!)
They are my new favourites!
Please try the album: The Life Pursuit
The songs give a very weekend-chillout feel, those kindof songs Class95fm always play....
Disclaimer: Such happy songs causes hallucinations. I start to see yellow, pink and neon green flowers swaying in the wind with butterflies fluttering their wings and yellow birds chirping on trees. And before you know it, you start to hum the songs, smile like an idiot and dance around your room. The very next thing that is going to happen, you will start to buy yellow-neon pink-green things and ADORE your pink room.

Random Ramblings
hadnt been thinking very deeply these days.
Maybe i've finally learnt to relish small pleasures in life. Or maybe, it's just effects of prolonged blasting of B&S on lappy. I dont really know. I had never liked my pink room (though some of my friends had gone ra-rahhh about it). And most importantly, i had never liked happy songs. So, whats really happening? I cant believe that I've a sudden thought of ditching metal songs for B&S kindof songs. (P.S. Sz would prolly kill his proud apprentice (yours truly) if he hears this. Lol.)

whatever happened to "with ns, boys become men"?

On days when you are bored, you guys might want to try this handwriting analysis... not as accurate as from the book i've read... but it's decent enough... Post the analysis on your blog too... http://handwritinglizard.com

Excerpts from my report....

  • xY is very self-sufficient. She is trying not to need anyone. She is capable of making it on her own. She probably wants and enjoys people, but she doesn't "need" them. She can be a loner. (Lol, i'm self-sufficient?! loner?! aww, why does "loner" always have a negative connotation?)
  • xY uses judgment to make decisions. She is ruled by her head, not her heart. She is a cool, collected person who is usually unexpressive emotionally. Some may see her as unemotional. She does have emotions but has no need to express them. She is withdrawn into herself and enjoys being alone.
  • xY is not subject to emotional appeals. If someone is selling a product to her, they will need to present only the facts. They should present them from a standpoint of her sound judgment. She will not be taken in by an emotional story about someone else (is that why i think i'm not empathetic?)

i had the weirdest dream ever. But in the dream, i saw the friends whom we hadnt met up ever since phs carnival back in aug 2006. Lets meet up as a class soon kaes!

psychedelicos

Yesterday was eventful :)
and we had been happy kids.

Joshua was funny...
Joshua - "have you heard about Belle and Sebastian?"
Me - "erm no, y?"
Joshua - "ohh, they have a very nice song"
Me - " OH, you were talking about a band... i was still thinking who was Belle (since Sebas was our common friend)"
LOL

Try: Belle and Sebastian's Funny Like A Frog, Seeing Other People.
They are happy songs, so dont worry...

Just as i thought i can run away from the doc's appt.
randy smsed to ask/ remind/ insist about it.
*sigh*

Listening to the unexpected *drumroll*... Scorpions~
Try: Holiday, No One Like You, Wind of Change....

random ramblings

you guys prolly wouldnt believe what i'm reading for leisure.
in any way, this is kindof interesting - 50 most powerul women

The situation today:
# we are into recession
# NK taken off US Terror List
# Youtube to Offer full TV shows
# Pink said, "I'm not gay so I guess I would not try a relationship with a woman. I didn't say I haven't experimented but I love men too much to make it a permanent thing."
# Kalmah reveals new album title
# Defleshed: calls it quits
# Opeth: Continues its quest to fuse metal and mellowness (YAY~)

Here's a good brief writeup about Opeth's albums, courtesy of Phoenix New Times
"Damnation, for example, consists entirely of softer music, while Opeth's latest album, Watershed, opens with "Coil," a lilting acoustic-based number with clean vocals and an almost hippie vibe that goes on for nearly three minutes before the heavier, more ominous music slams in. "Coil" exemplifies how willing Opeth is to test the patience of its audience, which is ironic because death metal bands tend to push audiences by increasing the harshness and extremity in their playing. Opeth requires the opposite kind of endurance."

Opeth Leader Mikael Ã…kerfeldt said:"You don't start your metal voyage with Opeth," he offers with a laugh. "Many people do, but it's probably better if you end up with Opeth. It's not an instant affection for many people. We play shows and we see people yawning and looking tired..." (well-said!)

Electric Guitars

Had been dutifully looking for (Jazz/ Prog Metal/ Rock) Electric guitar schools/ private teachers for the past 2 weeks...
Finally found~
So still working out the schedule, what guitar to get, etc.
meanwhile, to relieve the motivations of learning the guitar, i went on to YouTube to watch a few guitar solos....
here's one which is definitely good (minus few wrong notes here and there)... the effects were good... Mellow enough for my liking... everyone please watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPhXPHGpkwU&feature=related
and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8rRxpsQpcM

Some songs which i aspire to play:
Dream Theater's Hollow Years
Opeth's Windowpane, Harvest, Patterns in the Ivy II
Metallica's Master of Puppets
Theatre of Tragedy's Mire, A Hamlet for a Slothful Vassal, Dying -I Only Feel Apath
Deep Purple's Contact Lost
Ensiferum - Tale of Revenge, Ferrum Aeternum, Guardians of Fate

i'm into viking metal these days~
and what i hope is that.... i'm motivated enough to survive those chords/ theory sessions...

Till I blog again, tatas~

School is out (again) after every Wed.
But there are two lecs on Wed.
it's a love-hate relationship with Wed.

Lunch was pretty good @ MEgabites today =)
Shane and I had Chix&Mushroom Pasta.
Saw Winson @ Megabites...

PBF was as usual - difficult to understand.
and it's not just me (Lol, like why is there a need to clarify).
Anyway, met up with the clique and Patricia for class.

bus-ed home with 156 at the usual bus-stop.
bus was unusually packed...
and then @ Serangoon, guess who i saw~
CYNTHIA!
man, she was in the same bus as me and we didnt see each other!
Prolly because she's SLEEPING and i'm sleepy.

Next week is the last Stat Lec.

out

Last Sat.
Hanged out with Dan @ Orchard to catch up/movie/lunch-dinner/strolled
andd, that guy ACTUALLY ALIGHTED at the wrong mrt station (look how ns changed him =x)

we watched... PAINTED SKIN

Movie Plot:
Terror strikes a town when people start turning up dead with their heart ripped out clean. Suspicion centres around a mysterious woman named Xiao Wei (Zhou Xun) who was taken in by army general Wong (Chen Kun). Soon, his wife Pei Rong (Vicki Zhao Wei) and his one-time close ally Pang Long (Donnie Yen) realise that she is indeed an evil jinn-like demon who has fallen in love with the general. Seeking to expose the demonic seductress, they realise that it can all only end in conquering love and hate through wisdom and sacrifice.

Some Thoughts:
The plot was alright, critics were rather neutral about it... Though not exactly a fan of Chinese/ Romance movie... i think its worth watching in the theatres~ Quality production with big casts like Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei... Man, you guys should watch too.

I would if i could go back and try to graduate.

been away

i got asked the same question twice in a day by 2 different people.
and so the question of the day is "Why the emo posts?"
And i dont really know why.
It's kindof easier for me to come up with emo sentences and in general i think people can better relate to emo-ness.
In any way, the world now preaches that "emo-ness is the new cool"
I need emo songs to post emo posts.
But, i'm not emo.
List of emo songs: Sally's Song, Alone, Windowpane, Patterns in the Ivy II, etc.

Past week
Past week had been pretty smooth, though i was late for all lectures. =x
####Wed: Had PBF, was deciding whether to turn up for the SIP meeting at night. Was at the bus stop with Shane.
Me: Man, i feel like going home and then maybe come again later.
Shane: Maybe? i think by the time you reached home, trust me, you'll be too lazy to come out.
Me: Lol, boy you are probably right.
I did went home and DID turned up for the night meeting, which was rather fun, pretty glad to see familiar faces around: David, Sai, Jason, Eujene, Pearl, Edmund, Jokko. The people there are kindof fun. Clara, Chai Lee, Li Yi, Ardy, Winson, Vincent.
Had planned to dine with Sebas after the meeting, but he had hall meeting @ 2200pm, while i end mine @ 2100pm, postponed~ Like he said, whenever we make plans, something will definitely screw the plans up.
####11/09: Happy Birthday ChekHow.
####28/09: Happy Birthday Daniel.

This week
####01/10: Hari Raya Puasa.
First time in 19 years, we kindof celebrated Hari Raya Puasa. First time after staying 10 years in the same apartment, our friendly neighbours brought us their Hari Raya Puasa delicacies.

a seasoned friendship

i've gotten my serenity as i've wished.
and i've eventually convinced myself inside out -
ours is a seasoned friendship, here for this lifetime.
Alas, with neutral feelings we can meet.
arent you glad its working now?
